Employee Spotlight – Marta Zawadzka

Marta Zawadzka
– Branch Manager

Marta Zawadzka is the new manager of our branch in New Britain, CT; a native of Krakow, she has lived in the United States for the last 17 years, arrived in Connecticut in 2004.

She founded the nonprofit United Colors of Pink in 2019, a volunteer-based organization designed to help under-insured and uninsured women who are diagnosed with breast cancer.

Marta says some of the biggest battles the women she helps face are often a language barrier, as well as having a difficult time processing their diagnosis, and many of their volunteers are bilingual and multilingual to best help them through their experience.

Marta is an avid fan of the great outdoors and exploring everything America has to offer, and considers hiking to be one of her favorite hobbies. She says she’d „rather have hiking boots than high heels,” and enjoys visiting and hiking through our national parks; she considers Yellowstone National Park to be her favorite, and is planning visiting Acadia National Park in Maine in near future.

Having lived in both Connecticut and Chicago, Marta is a fan of food and cooking, especially fusion-style cuisine. When she dines at restaurants, she’s eager to try out the dishes she liked in her own kitchen, figuring out the spices and flavors she doesn’t know. She is also the proud parent of two adopted cats, ages 15 and 8, and she has traveled with her cats from Chicago to Connecticut.

When it comes to her goals as Polam’s branch manager in New Britain, she wants to show Polish people as well as people with a Polish heritage that anything is possible with the right mindset and financial education. She says that there are many people who may not know how to take care of their own income and business, and she is dedicated to show Polam Members all of the ways they can benefit from a credit union instead of a big bank, especially in terms of service. One of the biggest benefits of credit union membership, Marta says, is that her Polam team knows every single person who has an account, and they can help with financial education and „FQ” – their financial intelligence quotient.
